The Curse of 2017- Musicians we lost this year !!!

Chester Bennington’s death is taking a heavy toll on fans and musicians alike. Whether you are a fan or not , you probably would have tuned onto a Linkin Park song somewhere , someday and had approved o disapproved it. But no one can deny the fact that it did came as a shock to know about it. With tons of tributes going around and the social media pages personally being filled up with a Chester Bennington tribute post every two seconds, it just makes you look back at the year. 2016 was bad , yes, and 2017 is just getting much worse if you are a music lover.

We take a look at some of the giants in music we lost this year. 

CHESTER BENNINGTON

The Linkin Park vocalist died on 20 July , 2017 of an apparent suicide at his residence in California. He was. He is survived by his wife and six children.

CHUCK BERRY

The Legendary guitarist and singer/songwriter was found dead at his residence in Missouri of a cardiac arrest. He was 90 . He was considered one of the pioneers of ‘rock n’ roll’ music and an inventor of the duck walk .

DAVE ROSSER

Guitarist Dave Rosser of iconic hard rock band Afghan Whigs died after a battle with cancer at the age of 50.

Rock and Blues pioneer and Legendary guitarist passed away on May 27, 2017 of complication of liver cancer. The founder of the iconic Gregg Allman band is considered to be one of the greatest guitarist of our times.

CHRIS CORNELL

Like Chester , one could hardly believe when news was out that Chris Cornell was no more. On May 18th , 2017, Cornell was found dead by his bodyguard in Chris’s suite at The MGM Grand. The cause of death was ‘Suicide by Hanging’. He was 52.

JIMMY COPLEY

One of the most notable session drummers, Jimmy Copley passed away on 13 May , 2017 of Leukemia. He was one of the masters of the open hand technique and did session music for Jeff Beck , Ian Gillian, Tears for Fear, Toni Iommi. He was 64.

LARRY CORYELL

One of the greatest Jazz guitarist and ‘Godfather of Fusion’ , Larry Coryell died of a heart failure on February 19, 2017 at the age of 73. 

PETE OVEREND WATTS

Iconic bassist of Mott The Hoople , Pete Overend Watts died of throat cancer on 22nd January , 2017. He was also the producer for bands like Hanoi Rocks and Dumb Blondes.

AL JARREAU

On February 12, 2017 we lost one of the greatest jazz musician in Al Jarreau when he passed away of respiratory illness at the age of 76. Al Jarreau was a seven time Grammy award winner.

ALAN HOLDSWORTH

Alan Holdsworth passed away on 15th April , 2017 of heart diseases at the age of 70. He is considered one of the most influential and technically advanced jazz guitarist of our times.

J.Geils ,the front man of the iconic J. Geils was found dead at the age of 71 at his home . He died of natural causes.

ROBERT MILES

Iconic Dj and composer , Robert Miles died after battling with stage 4 metastatic cancer for 9 months . He was 47.

GEOFF NICHOLLS

Longtime Black Sabbath keyboardist GEOFF NICHOLLS passed away on 28 January , 2017 of lung cancer. He was with Black Sabbath until 2004.
